I have been researching this battle for quite some time. I purchased the entire Pegaso diorama some time ago but never started it because my groundwork was not up to snuff (hopefully it is now) and I wanted to find all the reference I could before starting this. Well, I have found a lot with more and more being added as time goes. I was recently inspired by our own Guy today ( (y) ) and wanted to post my results thus far up here for all to see. First and probably most enlightening came from our friends over on TNT from arguably the best known historian/painter in this hobby (especially when it comes to Roman stuff) Dr. Mike.

I found some more here:

And today I looked these up:

Additionaly, I found this. Probably, many of you have already seen this but I liked it a lot even if the "Roman Red" tunics aren't all that accurate.

Of course there are several books that could be put in here but only a few are dedicated to this paticular battle that took place over a period od 3 days. Now, should any of you decide to build either of the impressive dioramas from Time Machine or Pegaso, hopefully this will be of some service ( ;) )

Enjoy,

Funny you should mention that Anders. I was wanting to do a SBS showing how I paint figures, horses and groundwork. It was either going to be this one or Scotland Forever by Andrea. Why not both? Because at the rate I paint I'd never get either done! I want to have one of them done by the time World Expo rolls around. After Mastercon has come and gone, I can get started. Just let me know if you guys would rather see the Pegaso or Andrea dio.

Thanks for the links. I'll get around to painting the Pegaso 54 mm Aquilifer one of these days...

If you are taking votes, I like Pegaso

I only wish Pegaso and Time Machine were compatible.......Pegaso's are much larger in size as to be noticeable :(

I agree with you Guy. Pegaso's figures, at least to me, seem to scale out closer to 65mm then actual 54mm while Time Machine's, Again, to me, appear to be smaller than actual 54mm. Almost closer to 1/35th. Both are very nicely done (sculpting and casting) that it's a shame they can't be combined.
