Hello John:
OhMa'Gosh. . . if I could only paint flesh tones, re Rommel's face (the
Tamiya 1:16th scale figure you have posted) like you have. One of my
first figure painted "episodes" was with this Tamiya figure. And I like your
version a lot better than mine. Whoa, Nellie. . . .
Please excuse me, John but I'm a geography dummy. I've heard of Tilburg
but I don't know where it is??
I paint figures, and many here do, with the concept that the Sun is directly
overhead. So there are the presence of shadows on the figure. And I wonder
if you are considering adding those kind of contrasts to your figure. Just
below the edge of his jacket are the breeches, and as I see it, that area
where the bottom of the folds and creases, which would not be in sunlight,
would be in shadow. And the same for in the pit of the arms, et cetera,
under the bill of his cap. I'd be curious to hear what you think of this idea;
even though that approach or style isn't one that all figure painters use.
I mean, it isn't like one way is right and the other way is wrong. It is just
a matter of personal choice.
Regardless, a very nice job,
Jayhawk
