Spent this week on these two busts of Russians from the Crimea, sculpted by Steve Leadley. They are both taken from the Osprey MAA Series number 241 Plates D and G. Grenadier Dneprovski Regt and a Corporal of the 60th Don Cossacks.

I've been a bit in the dumps with my painting lately so after a month off, I've enjoyed this week.

Sorry that they are not up to the standard of most of you guys on Planet, however if anyone is interested in obtaining either of these, Steve has a few castings still available-he only casts about 25 of each.

Suggestions for improvement welcome.

Keith

Hi Keith
Firstly thank you for all the organizing you done at the Euro dinners,
and we can count! just a bit confused ,too much beer.
I Believe you were a bit short on the anti at the italian restaurant
so let me know howe much and will sort out as perhaps Sk and i had a
bottle of wine which might have thrown things out a bit

The faces on the busts look good, regards the uniforms try to blend a bit more
with a dry brush , in a stippling technique and lift off more of the paint at the
start.
just constructive critique.

Ron

Hi Ronnie, Thanks for the tips, I seem to have reached a point I am finding difficulty improving from. Since starting back 4 years ago progress has been quite steep and as always when learning the curve starts to level out-progress has been slow this year which I have found frustrating.
Don't worry about the restaurant mate that was all sorted out-sorry we didn't get more time to chat at Euro we always seemed to be at opposite ends of the table:thumb down:
Hope to meet up next year................Keith

Hi guys,
thanks Keith for the mention - love the painted busts! i must point out to all however, that the busts are not currently available from me - there were only test casts made! please dont contact myself regarding availability as i am presently unable to supply further items, due to other commitments! I am still sculpting however, new stuff to follow!
thanks, Steve(y)

Hi keith, lovely work you have achieved on the busts mate,i know what you mean about having time away from painting, sometimes its like flogging a dead horse,i like your flesh tones you have achieved as well,i love the crimean war and its nice to see crimean busts,i wish they're were more of them.
Following on keith from what ron said, thanks very much for organising an enjoyable saturday evening at folkestone and for including me.

Hi Brian, good to meet you at Euro mate and you were more than welcome at the dinner-it was a nice evening and hopefully we can repeat it next year.
Thanks for your comments regarding the busts, I'm struggling with blending but only more painting will bring improvement.
