To assist with the accuracy of my present project has anyone got or know of any close up pictures of WW1 Russian shoulder boards showing either numbers or regimental cyphers. The pictures I have don't show the detail I require.

Thanks,

Roger.

Dan, I had a strange feeling you'd be able to help :)
Looking forward ro receiving email, it isn't here yet, the rain here in Yorkshire must be slowing them down  Yes our summer has come to an end already :(

Roger.

Thanks Dan, yes they helped. My next dilemma is which number to attempt to paint on the shoulder boards. Too small a scale to attempt a monogram I think and I may be being a bit ambitious with the number idea. I'll just have to see how it goes.
Thanks again,

Rog.

Great stuff Pete, thanks very much. Could you post the key to the illustrations please? It doesn't matter if it's in French I can translate that better than Russian, which, incidently is easier than I first thought thanks to the web. :)

Rog.

Thank you Dan, Pete and Vik for supplying the information I required, it's very much appreciated.
I have settled on attempting to paint a 13 to represent 13th Infantry Regiment BELOZERSKY.
This regiment are in fact recreated by a British group of re-enactors click here for a link to their website.

I shall try and do the 13 on the shoulder strap freehand but if anyone has any tips to make this easier please let me know :)

Roger
