Hello Mates,

i wasn't in the mood for "What If" 1946 so at first i decided to do some clean-up of my bench. Doing so i found back this bust that i started years ago but, at the time, i realized i was lacking skills in order to paint it correctly.
I love the ecstatic, almost orgasmic, feeling coming out from the face sculpt.

So i gave it a new black primer and started it over again :)

this is a very early wip obviously ;) (ence the color spots on her chin :) )

paintbrush only including black primer.
skin base is : African Shadow, mids are pink flesh progressively added, highlights are light skin added and pale skin for the highest. everything is glazes over glazes.

I hope you all take care, trust me : this thing outside is vicious and stronger than we thought !
I am currently at day #6 and feel "alive" again but it hits you like a 38t truck !

thanks Mates :)

some background story behind her :

Each first morning after the first full moon of the spring she was presenting herself to the hamlet, she's always been there as long as the wisests remember.
Nobody knows where she's from, or where she lives, some say she's a witch, others say she's the messenger of the Gods, but she's always there in time of turmoils.

They call her : The Wanderer.

This winter's been tough for the Hamlet, some looters came, killing 2 braves. The hunters haven't found any trail yet of the sacred Boars in the surroundings, have the Gods left them ?

Now that the Wanderer is here, she'll proceed to the ritual sacrifice of the sacred bull and their world will wake up again.

as usual it's all acrylics, scalecolors range. This time i won't use true metals, time to grow up and paint an NMM ;) paintbrush only
and i hope you like the "background" story ... When painting i always let my imagination go and think of a story behind the figure.

forgot to say in my first post : i converted the original figure by chopping off the sculpted genitals as it was absolutely not necessary to this figure and was not bringing anything more to the general story of this lovely tiny bust.

day #7 after infection, i'm feeling fine ... just tired ! but i still have a week of strict quarantine in front of me to rest correctly :)
so ... it seems that you're stucked with me and my posts for some more years finally ;)

Happy benchtime

good afternoon mates :)

i was working at my bench when the wife came in and took time to have some painting related chat with me :) while chatting she suddenly found a banner i painted some years ago
and told me : she needs this !
at first i was like : honey, she's a kind of witch, she doesn't have a banner ... then i put it in place (if you're married you know how it works ...) with masking tape and then it was ... no more a Wanderer but much more a kind of Joan Of Arc

long story short : what do you think ? with or without the banner ?

008.jpg 009.jpg 010.jpg

i also worked on the NMM of the blade, pretty happy with it for the moment ... but i don't remember how many glazes it took to get there :)

I'd say you made need to change your backstory as you mentioned. ;)

I love the banner. It fits in perfectly from a fantasy perspective and adds immensely to the drama in my opinion. I also like the height it adds to the piece. Impressive.

Your NMM work is very nice. It looks like you also used it for the top of the banner. And the design on the banner is also well done. (y)

I'd call this a good day at the workbench. Also let your wife know she has a good eye for the dramatic. (y)

Cheers,
Ken
