Finally got this one put together.
It’s a 90mm Barton Miniatures figure of a Saxon at the Battle of Stamford Bridge, 1066, which was fought in the North of England (immediately prior to Hastings) against an invading Norwegian army.
Those interested can read all about the Battle HERE.
I’ve tried to depict the quilting as indicated by Steve (‘Helm’) in his 'Uniform Reference' post ‘War of the Roses’, and some of my efforts can be seen in my short W.I.P. HERE.
Most of the painting is oils over enamels, Printers Ink (from El Greco) for the bronze and some metal acrylics also found their way into the mix.

Hope you like it.

Cheers,
Andrew

Nicely done and great to see an old Barton figure, I have this one laying in a box half finished along with his Saxon enemy wielding an axe unfortunately I don't think I will ever get around to completing them, however you have inspired me to open the box and take a look at them.

Thanks for the kind comment Terry.

He’d look good opposite the Viking with his long axe.

(but I wouldn’t put money on the Saxon in that encounter)

By the way, just opening the box and, having another look was how I got going with my Kirin Highlander.

Cheers,
Andrew
