Hello everyone,
I am pleased to inform you that Scale Model Handbook, Figure Modelling 19 Is out! More information to the link Figure Modelling 19
Welcome to the 19th issue of “Figure Modelling” in Mr Black Publications’ Scale Model Handbook series. So far this is the 23rd book we’ve published, with 19 of our titles covering figure modelling, two on modelling dioramas and a further two of our popular “Modelling The Second World War” specials.
Eight articles from seven well-known artists plus one from a newcomer are featured in this issue, with lots of tips and techniques about modelling miniature figures, busts and vignettes from ancient times to the Second World War. Chosen subjects are covered in detail and illustrated with step-by-step photos and explanatory texts.
In an eight-page feature with lots of step-by-step photos Toshihiro Sano, one of our regular Japanese contributors, presents a guide to painting The Red Baron, a 200mm bust from Alexandros Models with Tamiya enamels. Following The Red Baron is a very detailed, six-page article from Sergey Popovichenko showing how he painted Pegaso Models’ 54mm Roman Legionary AD 1st century in artists’ oil colours.
We are pleased to welcome a new contributor - Gunther Sternberg, a well-known miniaturist from Germany who has painted Tommy’s War box arts for many years. He demonstrates how he used Vallejo Model Color acrylics on an Evolution Miniatures’ 1/35 scale, two-figure vignette with of British 8th Army figures in North Africa 1941-43.
Another very detailed, eight-pages, also on painting with Vallejo Model Color acrylics, comes from Juanma Vergara revealing how he painted “Flankenfeuer Le Bourget 1870” a 120mmbust from Heroes & Villains Miniatures.
Qianwei Shi presents his painting sequence for Young Miniatures’180mm bust of an American tank commander, as portrayed by Brad Pitt in the movie “Fury”, and titled… “Hell on Wheels” - 2nd US Armored Division WWII. Ernesto Reyes Stalhuth strikes back with his impressive painting style for Pegaso Models’ 75mm Francois L’ Olonnais 1634-1671 using Vallejo Model Color Acrylics in a 10-page highly detailed article. Jason Zhou returns with a different, and colourful, fantasy theme depicting a 200mm Dwarf Veteran bust by Raccoon Miniatures, explaining in detail his approach when using different acrylics colours and painting realistic facial features with a full beard.
Juanma Vergara closes Figure Modelling 19 with a WWII SS Panzer Crewman from Evolution Miniatures. He relates how to paint Black and White clothing on 1/35 scale figures using acrylics from Vallejo’s Various Series.
Thanks must go to all our contributors for their support and for sharing their secrets with us. Special thanks are due to Pietro Balloni, Luca Marchetti, Alex Vallejo, Darren Parker-Mead, Man Jin Kim, Alexey Lucanev, Fernando Vallejo, Balazs Schuller, Taesung Harmms, Yannis Papadopoulos and last, but not least our English Text Editor Ken Jones.
We hope you enjoy our latest edition!
