Here's another sculptor that does some amazing work. Andy Bergholtz currently does a lot of headsculpts/figures for Sideshow Toys. His likenesses are exceptionally done. I also like the way he renders hair.~Gary

well if that doesn't inspire.......nothing will!!!!

I'm off to sculpt!

(actually.......I'm off to the pub, but I'll certainly THINK about sculpting.....)

Thanks Gary :)

MASTERFUL!

Check out the pirate bust. This is characterization at its best. Unlike the vast majority of 'caricature sculpts' done by fantasy-orientated artists, such a result can be achieved only with a thorough understanding of anatomy.

Many thanks, Gary, for sharing.

Yes! Andy is one of the absolute best, especially at portraits. Here's an additional site of GREAT sculptors: Sculptors Corner. A few of my personal favorites (besides Andy) are Tony Cipirano, Jim Maddox, Joaquin Palacius, Greg Polutanovich, Mark Newman (<<Very Outstanding), and Ray Villafane. Most all these folks post regularly at these forums: The Clubhouse and Statue Forum.

Gary thanks for the post
Gia I knew the talent of Andy Bergholtz
but and always a pleasure see again its works.

To me they make to drive crazy the pirati caricature of Spectacular and the a lot being amused.

Jim, Thanks. I was going to post a link to there next. All of those sculptors are OUTSTANDING at their craft that's for sure.~Gary

Jim, I saw those they're great. I'm thinking of doing a bust that's done in a more loose style. This work definitely inspires that's for sure.~Gary

Gary, You're not too shabby yourself in the smaller scales! (y)

Those guys are very good (beyond belief somethimes), and they typically work in much larger scales (1/3 - 1/4 some even do 1:1). They also use a wax compound to get some amazing details (check out the hands on NOSFERATU).

You can see some of my toy work in the Sota toys gallery I did the base for the "Charmed" figures. I do a lot of playsets and bases for that type of stuff.

This base is mine.

and this one. The plan was that you would get a piece of base with each figure buy them all and you get a little play set.

I had never watched the show before I did this play set, and all I can say is that it was hard to sit though. This epsoide was supposed to be set in Valhalla. It was called dolls of Valhalla or something like that . It was really bad. This was a toy fair special it was done in about four days in 1/6 scale. I got very little sleep.

Jeff, Thanks for posting some of your toy work. It has be be neat seeing the finished product, though it appears that pieces sometimes get "tweaked" more than once and not always by the original designer.~Gary

Yea, when stuff goes to China and comes back you look at it and wonder if they even looked at the model you sent them. That is when you take what they have sent you and rework it back in to something more of what you want and send it back. Usually that is all it takes, but some times it can take two or three times sending it back and fourth before it looks right.
