I'm looking for good pictures of the late Peter Wilcox his figures. I know he made some nice Scythians, Sassanian and Parthian figures.
I'm interested in all his ancient figures.
Can someone help me with this please?
Many thanks

Hi All,

Peter Wilcox was a master modeller. I attach some pictures and articles culled from my books and magazines for your enjoyment.

Cool to see this old stuff again. Peter Wilcox was probably my very first inspiration in making figures. This brings me back to my beginnings figure-wise......

So nice to see Peters work again (a true master of his art). Please make my day and post some of Bill Hearnes too.

Thanks for the scans!!!!
There is a picture of Sassanians in the Military Modelling scan. I thought Peter made also some other Sassanian/Parthian cataphracts. If someone has a picture of these ones, can he or she then post it please.
Thanks

Attila

I don't have the Verlinden War-Paint magazines Tom. If you do, can you maybe post some pics?
I know Peter also had a Scythian archer who is shooting his bow from right behind his horse's head and lifting his body up from his saddle. If someone has a picture if this one, please post it. I would be very grateful.
Many thanks

Philip, there was/is an article in one of the very earliest Military Modelling mags (way back in 1971) by Peter of a Sassanid Clibanarius. I'm not entirely certain if the article appeared in the same issue as the one which featured the figure on the front cover. Someone might be able to locate that one for you, my stash of MiliMod mags are long gone.

I've found this on ebay;

Hi All,

Some more Peter Wilcox figures gleaned from older books. Some of the images were very small and I scanned at high resolution. Even blown up, the quality of his work is outstanding.

Finally my favourite figure of all - his Mongolian on a pony. I first met Peter Wilcox about 1978 at a monthly BMSS meeting above a South Kensington shop in London. He had brought along some of his figures and I was enthralled by this particular piece which I held and studied. I only have this one tiny pic of the figure taken from an old Blandford book.

Geoff,
I don't know if the figure on the cover is made by Peter Wilcox. If so, I hope someone can post a picture of it!!
It's certainly not the figure I'm looking for. If I remember well, the Sassanian figure I'm looking for was totally clad in iron armour (not as the later Clibanarius in Military Modelling of february 1986). Not mail, but more squarish-formed scales. Don't know if it was a single piece or a vignette.
I still very much hope that someone has a picture of the figure!!
Many thanks
