Greetings model makers! My name is Travis and I have recently started Ox Head Minis in order to combine my love for ancient history and art. My first set focuses on the Middle Bronze Age people of the Levant - those living in Canaan, Syria and everywhere in-between.

Currently live on Kickstarter, are STLs, art prints, PDF that covers the research and paint tutorial, and a couple of painted models by Fabio Ricci and myself, Travis Wilson. I hope you will enjoy checking out the campaign, thanks!

Hi Travis

Thanks for the details , definately don't see many if at all from this period of history , the pieces look really good full of character

Look forward to seeing what other subjects you decide on for future releases

Good luck on the KS and with Ox Head Miniatures

Hello Travis and welcome to pF. These figures look very nice indeed.

Have voted in your poll. Personally I will paint anything that takes my fancy subject-wise (from ancient to modern to fantasy) and I don't mind if it's cast in the traditional way or printed, as long as the quality is there.

Good luck with the campaign, I like the girl bust very much and would certainly buy her to paint but I notice you don't have a "Licensed Printer" pledge level which is unusual for stl only campaigns.
I don't personally buy stls to only print (or commission print) them once, I will use a professional print service that has the figure available under licence.

Nice and interesting subject matter and really very nice sculpts, good luck with the venture.

Cheers Simon

I'm very enthusiastic about this Kickstarter project, the subject matter, and these initial figures. You can count on a pledge from me. I hope you quickly meet and exceed your goals.

Thank you all for your encouraging feedback! It's helpful to hear!

If any are interested, I've started a giveaway on instagram for a free 3D printed (physical, for clarity) bust from one of the stretch goals. https://www.instagram.com/p/CwdzbSPOskd/

and Rob, I appreciate your feedback on the commercial license. I have held off for now until I better understand the market and how all of this works with selling STLs. If you don't mind, I'd like to reach out to you and ask you some more questions about that.

Beautiful figures. I’ll be backing soon. Did you sculpt these? Also interested how the Kickstarter model works for this kind of thing. Most artists seem to be using a subscription model with discounts on the back catalog. I wish you much success. I’m hoping you get to the woman with child stretch goal.

Certainly, I will help if I can. To personal message on here click the blue username under my icon picture and then click "start conversation" at the top of the little pop up that appears.

Thanks! Yes, I did sculpt these. I will say that I am learning a lot. I've also ways wanted to go through the process of a kickstarter campaign just to understand what goes into one. I would say it's a lot to organize, write, assets to create, etc., but from my perspective it's a little skewed because I am also branding a new company all at the same time. If I were doing one again, it certainly wouldn't take me as long, but I could probably sculpt a few characters in the time it would take me to put another campaign on. :)

I really like these figures and would buy a set, but am not going to get into the expense, smell, and mess of 3D printing. As nice as they are, I won’t be able to get them. I wish you success though!

I don't plan on buying a 3D printer either, but there are good 3D printing services who can use customer-privided STL files to produce rather nice figures for a reasonable price (which is to say, at no higher cost than buying a quality molded resin figure in the same scale).
