Another review of another figure from "Faces of War Military Miniature". Continuation of a large and probably the widest in perspective series of gladiators in miniature.

This time "Secutor". Goes as a paired figure to the retiarius, which I reviewed last time.
Secutor (Latin secutor - pursuer) - a type of ancient Roman gladiator.
Secutor was also called contraretiarius ("opponent of the retiarius") or contrarete ("against the net"), since the secutor fought against a gladiator armed with a net - a retiarius. Secutors were a type of murmillos and were equipped with similar armor and weapons, supplied with a large rectangular shield of the legionaries and a gladius.
Their helmet, however, covered the entire face, except for two holes for the eyes, in order to protect the face from the sharp trident of their opponent. The helmet was almost round and smooth, so that the retiarius' net could not get caught on it. The secutor wore a loincloth and a belt. Suetonius was the first to mention fights between a retiarius and a secutor, and in the late empire, secutor duels remained the most popular. Emperor Commodus fought as a secutor.
The secutor's tactics were diametrically opposed to the retiarius's mode of action. This is practically the same murmillo, but with an improved attack technique. During the duel, the secutor sought to get as close as possible to the retiarius in order to take advantage of his impressive weight in close combat. The retiarius tried to either entangle the enemy in a net and knock him to the ground, or to stall for time and wait for the secutor to tire under the weight of his armor. In order to eliminate the enemy's advantages, he sought close combat, but it was impossible to predict its outcome. Suetonius has a story about how, under Caligula, "five retiarii gladiators in tunics fought against five secutors, gave in without a fight and were already waiting for death, when suddenly one of the defeated grabbed his trident and killed all the victors."
The figure is presented in 54 and 75 mm scale, due to the fact that it was developed in 3D. It has very decent detailing and high-quality production. It consists of 5 parts, not counting the base.
The manufacturer loves and studies the theme of gladiators and gradually expands the line of gladiators, planning quite rare and interesting types of fighters. Systematically conducts surveys on its page in order to decide on the poses of gladiators from several proposed sketches.
