There are some listings on ebay selling prepainted SEIL figures and busts. I message the seller if they are original cast or recast. Here is the reply:

Hi,
Yes, Our figures are official SEIL Figures. A Chinese company bought the SEIL some years ago and figures are recast with Seil Kits.
We are their retailer in the US.

Their website: http://yzcaesar.com

Does any member has any insight on this?

I knew Seil went out a business a few years ago. I may be wrong but I think what this new company are trying to say is the original moulds were sold and now are being used to produce the figures they are selling.

My take on it as well........ Stand still the outrage brigade

Just had a look at the site.
It would appear that they are selling painted models (not kits)

They only offer painted models no kits and all cast in resin.

More message and reply from the seller:

Thank you for your reply. Are the figures and busts casted from original SEIL mould or are they re-mould from existing figures. All original SEIL figures and busts are casted in metal. Please clarify.

Reply from the seller:

Hi,
We did try cast in resin. Unfortunately, It is not good for the market. We will keep cast in Metal.
As I know, All figures and busts casted from original SEIL mould, but I will double check with manufacturer tonight and let you know.

I seen this on e-bay some time ago and did not give it much thought as their story pretty much matched the one that I had when Seil was in business. Seil was a Korean run company backed by a Chinese investor. When they went back to him for more money, he pulled the plug. I was told by a couple of sculptors that the masters/molds went back to the owner. This seemed reasonable as this was the case in a couple other companies too that went belly up.
If this was a current company, I would have e-mailed them immediately but considering its a defunct company of several years, whats the point? Re-releasing old lines is not a money making business and they are trying a different slant by painting them which is also a small market.

I noticed these a couple of weeks ago................as Seil are long out of business and produced some really nice stuff by good sculptors I can't see a problem be they pre-painted or kits. It might be a good opportunity to get hold of some of the figures you missed as they folded very quickly.

Hi,

My name is Daniel from yz caesar (Seil).
I just want to make my point.
We owned all SEIL masters (released and unreleased) and cast to release them.
We DO NOT recast with seil kits.

Thanks,
