Something the general film audience probably won't get to see.
Can't entirely vouch for the full authenticity of this, (helmets?hereldry look pretty good but you're not going to get a better understanding of the battle). The lead actors are hamming it up a treat, I've never seen so much mist and the characters seem to have a knack of knowing what is going to happen in their futures, but I was entertained nevertheless.

From the film Sekigahara:-

Thanks for sharing this David ...as you say first class hamming it up by the cast !

Should be a good film to watch , ignoring any errors in respect the battle

Happy viewing

This is a TV drama "Aoi Tokugawa-sandai/葵 徳川三代" aired in 2000, it's completely different from the 2017 film "Sekigahara/関ヶ原".
I was watching this drama at the time, and can now discern some errors that were not obvious then. But all in all, a well done fight scene.

Although they did a good job with what they had I wondered why there appeared to be limited numbers on screen at any one time.
Does anyone know of a good source for obtaining Japanese production Blu Ray discs that are region 2 or region free? These films / TV shows are not easy to find in the U.K. unless they are major international releases or classic Japanese films by directors renowned in the west. I can't even find most of the Gojira films over here:mad: .

Thanks for posting the clip, Its not an era I know much about, but found it enjoyable to watch.
It was well filmed, but I think all the mist spoiled the visual effect, as it virtually blotted out the screen entirely.
Was there a reason for this, was there a thick mist when the battle took place, or just added for effect?

According to the record of Itasaka Bokusai/板坂卜斎(1578-1655), Tokugawa Ieyasu's physician, on September 15, 1600 (October 21, Gregorian calendar), when the battle took place, the rain that fell late at night turned to fog in the early morning, so that it was impossible to see about 27 meters ahead.
Bokusai seems to have been on the battlefield on the day of the battle, serving at Ieyasu's side, so this statement is believed to be true, but his document(Itasaka Bokusai-oboegaki/板坂卜斎覚書) is treated as a secondary source rather than a primary source because the date of completion is unknown.
Also, some historians question the credibility of his document, as some of its content contradicts other primary sources.
