Hi all :)

Since the cat is now out of the bag I thought a few WIP shots might be fun to post up here ....

The whole piece is Under-coated with Games Workshop Skull White Primer ( I have a huge rattle can of it left over )

Painted with Acrylics from Vallejo and Games Workshop, graphite for the rifle and Klear for the gloss effects.

If anyone wants colour mixes/breakdowns just ask and I'll list em :)

Thanks for looking

Mark

Beautiful work Mark! I'll definitely pick this one up! I would love to see the flesh mix. Although I am an oils guy, I think I could aim my mix towards your acrylic one. I like the fact he looks pale as opposed to tanned. It's more realistic if he came from the British Isles.

Thanks!

Mark, brilliant painting, you've certainly brought out the character in Carl's sculpt. Congratulations mate.

Cheers Ken

Awesome paintwork.
Gonna look after this bust at our show (Domino would have some as they say).
Never gonna get that level of paintwork. But the goal is set.

Marc

oh my god it´s awesome !!

Wonderfull fleshtones, wonderfull cloth-texture. Really one of your best figures right now.

Wonderful work Mark! Oil painter, of sorts, but would like to try this in acryllics so would be delighted if you posted your mixes. Make an old guy very happy, or a happy guy very old depending on the results I get.
Super

Don

Another superb sculpt from Mr Reid, and an excellent paint job too. This is a must for my collection. Congratulations.

Mark ,
Thank you for posting this , love it (well I had to!!) , he has the look of a veteran in him , the fleshwork is stunning .

One thought has Carl sculpted medal ribbons above his pocket , it looks like it to me , but if not then I will look forward to seeing this in the flesh , would love to review this for sure .

Bring on the mixes and get Mr Gordy to do the SBS !!!!

Wish I could paint as fast and as good as you (y)

You don't wear a tartan patch on a Glengarry! That looks very weird. The badge backing on a Glengarry is, and always was, a black silk cockade. Patches are/were worn only on the Tam O' Shanter and the Khaki Balmoral bonnets.

Here is an original WW1 Gordon Highlanders Glengarry bonnet (the cockade is very frayed - see the next image):

And a new, modern one showing the shape of the cockade:

He has a good Aberdonian face though! Finally, let me add a quote from a Gordons sergeant giving final advice to the boys about to go into an attack on German positions: "Right boys! Nae indiscriminate shootin'. Dinna hit their watches or fountain-pens!"
