This is a new venture for me I'm dipping a toe in the waters of selling instead of buying :cautious:

This has been sculpted and will be cast by Planet Figures very own Steve Readdie (1969) it is a 1/9th/200mm scale bust of a Sgt of the Royal Tank Regiment in the tropical dress worn in the immediate post war years while the regiment was stationed there. The man depicted was not famous nor does he appear in any of the many histories of WWII however to me he was a hero in every way, he was my father. Steve has done a fantastic job of getting a likeness from a few small photos taken over 50 years ago and I am extremely grateful for all his work, time and attention to detail.... as well as not braining me for some of my more stupid requests and comments o_O

This will be a very limited run and I'm not aiming to get rich from it (although if anybody wants to

make me rich I won't complain ;) ) the busts will go for £22.50 and will be sold until the mould gives

out so around 20 figures or so at a guess. there will be no box or box art as I'm keeping costs to a

bare minimum as I said anybody who is interested send me a PM I aim to be at Figure World with a

painted version and again to save costs I can bring any figures there to save P&P

Finally should anybody want to replicate the man himself hair would be black and eyes blue and should you wish it I can send you a large scan of this which I intend to use as a nameplate myself, it was the name plate on his bunk door

It's 1/9th/200mm scale I think Steve said, I guess I should find that sort of thing out huh ?

Hi Steve * 2,
Mr Drew that is a wonderful tribute to your Dad having him immortalised in a sculpt.(y)(y)(y) Can I ask a question, did your family members have the dropped jaw syndrome when they saw it? Good luck with this, it is a cracking sculpt and definitely a come and buy me price.

Mr Readdie cracking work as usual;)
cheers
Richie

They don't know yet mate it's going to be a surprise the only one who has seen it really likes it. Steve does do a great job for sure (y)

Steve

Well make sure you have an official opening ceremony will draw curtains to unveil it, also plenty of butties and ale(y). Let us all know how it goes down mate and I don't mean the ale and butties

Steve,
All the best for this, mate. A brilliant job from Steve R, I look forward to seeing this for real at FW. Ive got loads of old photos of my grandad who was a career soldier from the mid 1920s through to the end of 1945, maybe its time to commit one of those to resin!!
cheers,
Steve(y)

Cheers Rog saved me saying it (y) But it wouldn't be a massive job to sculpt a beret and use the cap badge off the one under the epaulette for it, it would mean a bit of work on the shoulder but quite doable, as for the side cap I don't think the tankies wore one as as far as I know even parade dress is the black beret
