Hi guys,

I finally got round to completing this one at the weekend. A conversion to Richie's recent 24th foot bust, to depict the man in the title, this will be one of a pair of busts depicting VCs won by the 80th Foot (Staffordshire Volunteers) during the Zulu War.

Painted in acrylics, with a miniature VC which I bought off Amazon, added to the base. This just needs some info added to a small label on the back of the plinth (no room at the front!!)

Thanks for looking,

Steve(y)

Steve ,

That has come out really well , like the VC addition , the Staffs knot on collar are a good bit of work ......with the other a really nice pairing , a tribute to brave men

Thanks for sharing

Nap

Thanks for the kind words, Nap - the knot is actually tied using a piece of lead wire. Unfortunately, the red of the tunic and the crimson ribbon look similar in the pic, but are distinctly different in reality! Im no Lord Lichfield with a camera!

Up the Staffs...(y)

Hi Steve,
Really nice conversion, I'm glad you enjoyed converting my bust into this brave soldier, he looks really well. Can't wait to see Sam finished.:D You never know if you get stuck into those books of yours, I'm sure you could add even more to the 80th/Staffs and your display cabinet.(y)
cheers
Richie
P.S. Glad the VC worked out;)

Looks good. Your work on the hair is better than the original (which now also comes with a helmet option). Shep Paine in one of his books described using different thicknesses of solder wire for pipe runs on tanks and aircraft, I use the same technique for braid etc on military figures.

Mike

Many thanks again for taking the time to post, guys. Ive enjoyed doing these and it was really down to Richie's release that spurred me on - thanks, Richie!

Mike - yes, lead wire/solder/plastic tubing is really useful for braiding, lace, etc - I think Id be lost without it!

thanks again,

(y)
