No it is not what figure painting should be in my opinion. It seems that with this style of painting we are going back to the dark age.
There is no blending, very rough painting etc.
No, i cannot say this is figure painting. Looks more like paintwork when I started the hobby with acrylic.

So no, I cannot praise this. I'm the only one i think.
Maybe I'm to old for this "new style". I hope for myself that this wouldn't be a standard for the future. If so, I would not have to improve my paintwork in the last decade's.

Interesting technique, almost like treating a 3D object as a 2D surface, as in his flat pieces.
I think Holmes and Watson work really well as an at night in candlelight study.
Be interesting to see if the 'atmospheric' look works when seen in the cold light of day, I'm not convinced.
Assuming the flats are massively magnified then having reduced the images to scale??? I think the technique works rather well.
