Hi:

as i have told you in my presentation i m a slot car enthusiast and i decided to sculpt Mr Alfred Neubauer and two mechanics from the MERCEDES BENZ team in which our Juan Manuel Fangio was one of the drivers . I try to do my best sculpting in Magic Sculpey and painting them in Acrilics.
Perhaps these are not so good as the ones you do but i hope you like them.

Kind regards

Juan

I lik the composition of this vignette very much.

The painting seems a bit rough though. I suggest you try to avoid the glossy finish next time, and try some highlighting and shading. It looks like you have a used a wash for shading?

Anyway, it's all about practice, practice and practice, and that takes some time.

I do like your work here!

Cheers,
Adrian

Thanks Adrian:

I use wash for shading and i try to work it but the thing is that i dont use vallejo or that kind of acrilics here in Argentina is dificult to find them and i have to paint with plain acrilics (ordinary) and the thing is that they get dry quicly and i cant mix them to have lights or shadows....perhaps thats my problem...if you thing it is....let me know....perhaps i have to spend money getting vallejo or that kind....

Thanks

Juan

Hi Juan,

Yes, acrylics can dry glossy if you work them for too long. You could try and use a hair drier between coats. In general, with acrylics, you make shades and highlights by painting each successive shade over a dry previous layer. That should keep things matte.
Another trick is to mix a tiny amount of Tamiya X-21 matt medium with your acrylics.

I'd just experiment a bit with your own paints before buying something else. Just my two cents!

Good luck, cheers,
Adrian

Hi Juan,
Your figures are very good looking, lovely done. Are you going to place them on your slot track? It's definitely a lovely scene. Do you also scratch build your slot cars, and is there an era where you are especially interested in?
I hope to see more of these race figures in the future, keep up the good work(y)
Cheers,
Danny
