Hi All
In painting this figure, I have attempted to obtain the blended look of oil
colour. Through the application of acrylics by means of washes and glazes
over base colours. Also polishing areas that require a slight sheen.
My technique is based mainly on articles I read by Mario Fuentes
although he paints his skintones in oils.
Having read Alex's tips in his posts we may have something in common
so I eagerly await his book(signed copy please)

Hi here is the signifier .........ooooop's

Frank,
You slay me! Your sense of humor is awesome.
Are you using oils or acrylics?
I like the way the flesh tones on the legs transition...it's much truer on the legs than the arms or face (maybe that's the lighting or camera angle). I can't wait to see how he turns out when you are done...
54mm right?
How did you get the groundwork built up? Did you use successive builds of puty...would be eager to hear your technique, Frank...

Hope all is well

Patrick

Hi Patrick
The ground work is a build up on top of the supplied base
with Milliput. It is then textured by pressing a rough stone into it
after bits of grit, small stones and anything else that adds to the effect
have been added. Static grass is then glued on with PVA and the whole terrain
is then primed

hope this helps

Frank, awesome work, I really like his sneakers!! Just kidding. I really like the colors your using and the set up on the base really enhances it. Honest!

Great work Frank........I have this kit as well and hope to get him started soon. Keep up the great work.

Hi Frank

That's a good photo! Have you done much to him recently, or been spending all your spare time on pF!!!

I've seen this fellow a few times (at club meets) folks and the pictures don't do it justice!

Hey Frank,

He's got a nice, outdoorsy tan skin tone. You've got a good acrylic touch & the blue eyes really stand out. Great job so far!

Mike

Frank, Very nice. That is a great looking figure. I'm not really into Romans but that is one I'd buy. For me he falls into the catagory of a "classic". I'm sure the casting is top notch.~Gary

Hi all
Here is an extreme closeup of the facial tones,
something near to that of a garage kit.
I would be happy to hear what Alex makes of it good or bad
I am my own worst critic, so nothing is taken personaly as far as painting goes
