June's release by Young Miniatures is their first native American bust sculpted by the talented Carl Reid. The box art was painted by the Master artist Sang Eon Lee. I hope we see more from these talented artists.

The resin kit comes in Young's sturdy black box with its clear plastic sleeve and is comprised of 14 resin parts. All the parts are sandwiched between layers of foam with the smaller parts sealed in a clear plastic zip-lock bag.

Above you see various views of the separately cast head showing the hollowed cheeks and age lines that make this an older warrior. Months ago I was glad to hear that Carl was working on a Native American for Young. His attention to detail was worth the wait.

The top photo shows the front and back of the hair braids that fasten up into each side of the head with locator tabs corresponding to the holes on the chest for correct positioning. The bottom two photos show the separate cast fringe for the left arm as well as the right side of the chest.

Above you see the separate cast parts that make up the pipe. The parts all dry-fitted together perfectly to form the eagle head pipe that will cradle in his left hand and arm.

Breaking away from Young's traditional bust support (plinth) Carl Rein has sculpted a piece of drift wood for a bust support which the painter can fasten onto a wooden display base as it is after painting or add groundwork around the drift wood.

Conclusion:
One of the best sculpted and engineered Native American busts I have seen. All parts dry-fitted fit well. Minimal clean-up of casting blocks under the bottom of the bust as well as separate cast parts. Highly recommended.

Isn't Carl Reid the same guy who sculpted the Harton Miniatures exquisite Indians ?. I met the guy once at Euro Militaire and I was simply amazed at his work back then (1999). I could not resist and bought around 5 of his busts :).

This must be one of the very best Indian busts around.

Great review Guy and I've already booked mine. Hope to have it soon.

Thank you Guy for this great review. Wonderful sculpting, fantastic painting. Bravo Young for this beautiful release.

Many thanks Guy for yet another great review, this is one I will be adding to the collection for sure.
Cheers
Tommi
