Hi to one and all ,

This is another I completed a while back ...

my massively friendly and very excellent biscuit eater Jimbo reworked an old Verlinden bust to create this for me ...lots of NMM and medal ribbons ,

Pleased with the end result , this guy was promoted as a result of him being a Royal favourite .

Pics not great but you should get the idea!!

Acrylics and WSO for the fleshtones (not as pink in real life!!)

Thanks for looking in

Nap

Hello Kevin,
Jimbo is a star indeed and as Brian said your painting is excellent.
I love the epaulettes and all the details...but where are the legs?:)
Congratulations to Jimbo for this (if we can say it coversion, its all new) and to you for bringing him to life!!!
Dimitris.

Hi Nap,
Great finish to a great conversion. I presume he was modelled off this! I also have a younger photo of him from around the time of the Zulu war as he was a Lieutenant on H.M.S. Active and A.D.C. on Lord Chelmsford staff.
cheers
Richie

About time we saw some representation from the Senior Service. Very nicely done. Two points - he is wearing the rank of a captain, not admiral, and the cuffs should come to the front of the sleeve and not start some way round (I had to correct this when I did my GSM Mott conversion). I'm not sure whether he should be wearing a tunic with a standing collar with those cuffs. I have been meaning to do a 200mm standing RN officer from the Victorian era for some time, a winter project perhaps?

Mike

I have been waiting for an age to see this one develop Kevin.....it was well worth the wait.
Jim's work on the conversion must have been a pain in the Gluteus Maximus but well worth the trouble.
Great paintwork from your swirling brushes Mate. All in all I really like this piece and well done to you both.
All the best,
Keith

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the comments always appreciated

Richie that's one of the pictures I used

Mike ..the reference to Admiral was his final rank not really to the actual bust itself ..might change the nameplate , the cuffs are taken from a great book called Rank and Rate , with this as one of the references used for the cuff .

Thanks for looking in I enjoyed bringing him a little to life!
