Hello,
Here are a few pictures of my version of Soldiers' Viking.
I'm waiting for your comments.
There is an article in french in the Etendard Occitan website with more pictures.
As you can see my digital camera is less accurate than Hardy's one but it fits with the level of detail I'm able to achieve on my figurines... ;)
Bye

Excellent work on this one, I like a lot the shield and the metal axe, Could you explain me how do you work the metal parts for the axe and how do you paint the process for the shield?

Thanks

I wouldn't be too worried about teh accuracy of the camera he is stunning. The best I have seen that fig done.

Robin

Thanks for the kind words.
Ernest, the metal part where painted with Gunze Sangyo Mr metal following The article of Augie Rodriguez. For the axe I add the used look with black sépia and burnt sienna oils paints dots.
For the shield I first painted the wooden parts to be seen due to red and black paint leaving. I then protect it with Maskol and painted on the design and then I removed the mAskol. I reworked the shield with a lot of "trompe l'oeil" on the used areas. It was fun !
Hope this is of some help.
Bye
JP
PS : and your roman soldier how is he doing ?

Hey JP. Wonderful stuff mate. I think your figures look better in the flesh though

Thanks stephen this is quite a compliment !
I prefer that than the contrary ;)
See you...

Great job JP. The shield is the icing on the cake. It's weathered perfectly. I like the torn embroidery strip. This guy is a veteran of many raids.

Thanks guys for the kind words, I'm glad you like it :)
I will share pics of another figure soon...
Bye

Bravo JP. très joli travail de peinture. Les couleurs se marient bien, tout est propre, c'est le genre de finition que j'apprécie énormément. Tu semble t'améliorer beaucoup, tu es bien parti pour figurer dans les meilleurs peintres français...a+

I had to get my two-cents in on this one--I LOVE VIKINGS! (could be my 'Germanic' heritage or something...). The weathering/worn effect on the sheild is amazing--this a a terrific all-around paint job. An inspiration to me as a 'newcomer' to the hobby. Thanks for sharing it.
