Hi!

My laptop is kaput, motherboard, graphics, lots of money to fix and is out of question buying a new one also.
I will use again my older PC, hardware is fine but OS windows xp is out of order. With no money to new stuff I though to install a free of charge Linux OS - ubuntu 12.04, quiet good for many users. I know, this OS is diferent than Windows but i am a simple user (watch some divx, mp4 movies also mp3 music, youtube, some basic photoshop work) and lots of Planet figure LOL.
Did someone uses Linux, if yes, any advises and guidance are more than welcome.
Thanks!

Pedro

Ubuntu is about the easiest Linux system to install (can be installed from CD or memory stick) however WiFi may be a problem unless the equipment is more than a few years old. If you can put up with it run it off an Ethernet cable. Plenty of YouTube videos to help with technical problems you may encounter.

Richie, i have Wifi at home a good and stable network up 100mbps with ethernet cable or by wifi.
The old PC have WLAN b/g, less speed i think?!
Tomorow i will download ubuntu to a pen drive...
Thanks!

Yes in the past, for my laundry ;)

Hello, Pedro! I would advise giving Lubuntu a try, it's pretty light-weight operating system and I feel it's a lot easier to use than other Linux based kernals.
