I like 54mm scale. When I started painting figures again a couple of years back, I wasn't too clued up as to what was out there, so I thought it best to start on something inexpensive but relatively good quality. I had previous experience of El Viejo Dragon figures, so I acquired a couple. One I painted (badly), the other went into limbo.
During my recent WIP activity with busts, I dug this little figure out to do as a break from them. I painted this one over a couple of weekends in between the Bolshevik and General Rollet busts. I'm no Napoleonic buff, but I was pleased with how it came out.

It is a Spanish Infantryman of the Zaragoza Regiment, part of Joseph Bonaparte's contingent to Germany in 1808. The all-white uniform is an interesting painting exercise.

Thanks all! I struggled to get the facial expression to look less miserable, but I guess if you had been transferred from southern Spain to northern Germany in November, you would look grumpy too!

I don’t think I could do 54mm but this looks excellent

Give it a go Graham. They are addictive and focus your technique
