South Devon Model Extravaganza 2010

Hi Guys

This is the first of what we hope will become a regular event in the heart of beautiful South Devon. The show will be held on the 22 May 2010 (not a Bank holiday) at the easily accessible Newton Abbot Race course just 10 minutes walk of the busy historical town of Newton Abbot. Efforts are being made to encompass as many avenues of modelling as possible in one event. There is plenty of outside space for larger attractions, these will include Plastic modelling, live steam, railways, slot cars radio controlled vehicles and aircraft (in action), war gaming, fantasy and more. Catering will be available on site for those who require it. A competition will be open to any modellers who want to enter the multiple classes on offer with no need to belong to any club. The venue is easy to find (TQ12 3AF) with ample of safe off road free parking. More details will be available nearer the event but for now any request for clubs or traders should be addressed to Paul Thompson 21 Graham Road, Paignton Devon TQ3 1BB Tel - 01803 558 520 Email - [email protected]
Alternatively contact John Wilkes @ [email protected]

Sdme 2010

Hi John ,
This sounds interesting for sure , but is there not another show the following weekend (possibly Plymouth or Torquay) , not sure if clubs would want to commit to shows so close to each other ...just a thought ?...or is this in place of or combining with these shows ?

South Devon show

Hi Nap you are sort of right. I say that because the venue for the Torbay show is currently very much in doubt as we speak. This is due to current developments of the existing building likely to begin later this year and go on for another 2 years to come. The show there is traditionally on the following bank holiday weekend. We are trying to get Torbay Military Modelling society involved in this one because it looks like thiers may well not happen. That is why we are organising this one so early, on a different date (not a bank holiday) easily accessible and not too close to the Salisbury show. Also we want to expand out from being limited to plastics alone. So far we have filled 1 of the two halls and we will have plenty of outside space with lots of less military orientated things as well as the traditional military models. This also includes traders too. Cheers for now

If you need any more info feel free to contact me
