I am painting this little gem by Alpine but I need guidance on the colours of the binocular and of the ammo pouch:

http://www.alpineminiatures.com/imagepages/35064.html

Is the binocular yellow? It definitely look desert yellow in the pictures, but I am not an expert so I do not want to get it wrong.

Further, I do not understand the colour of the ammo pouch, is it light green or some sort of desert yellow also?

I would really appreciate any help!!!

Thanks everybody,

Alessandro

Hello

The binoculars are originally in black.
Sometimes German soldiers painted them in dark yellow
for camo effect in later days of the war.

The magazine pouches on this figure are made with canvas material
with black leather straps. The canvas color can be field grey or green.
But the color fades fast.

Hope it helps.

Yes, that definitely helps, thank you very much!
If I may take the opportunity that you jumped in, I would assume you also know what is (and what is the colour of) the "ring" right above the ammo pouch on the figure.
Thanks again,
Alessandro

Hello Alessandro, Great choice for your figure, one of my favorites. As Taesung pointed out, most german binoculars were painted black, which were sometimes painted tan, or desert yellow, for camouflage purposes. The german Afrika Korps painted them in an ordinance tan color. The ammo pouches for the mp-40, were black leather early in the war, but changed to canvas w/leather fittings, because of shortages. The pouches were made in many colors, but mostly, tans, greys, and greens. Here are a few photos of binoculars and ammo pouches, maybe they might help. Thank you very much SG, the pictures are very helpful.
Do you have any idea of what is that sort of ring right above the pouch?
Best regards,
Alessandro

Hello Alessandro, Here are a few photos showing the "D" ring on the mp-40 magazine pouch. It was attached to the front straps of the "Y" harness, on a hook to keep the pouches from leaning forward.y_belt01.jpgboch1.jpgboch2.jpgboch3.jpgboch7.jpgSS-Scharfuhrer1stSSPzDivLAHEasternf.jpgIn the picture of the soldier, look at his left side ammo pouch, you will see how it was attached. Hope this helps. Best of luck with your figure. Regards, SG:)(y)
