Hey Guys,

This is a figure that I have just finished for a collector friend. It is an Andrea figure. I painted it all in acrylics except for the flesh. I had quite a problem with this one :( I had him finished and there was a slight sheen on the leg so I tried a touch of Dullcote and it ate thru to the metal, needless to say if this was for me it would be in the garbage! I went back and stripped it all from the waste down and repainted him. I am sorry the pictures are so dark but I will try to get a few better ones later. Just wanted to show what I have been painting and I hope to show more on the Sherlock figure soon.

G'mornin Joe,
Your figure looks terrific and I love the way your dark colors turn out. Post some more when you get a chance and tell us how you did those colors.

Nice job Joe. I like the various shades and finishes of black. A hand painted swastika I assume.

Thanks Guys,

John you are correct about the swastika. I had a difficult time trying to figure out how to paint it. Needless to say it was quite the bear! . I tried to vary the different shades on the black and I went for a cooler tone. Gordy, for the sheen on the boots...Good Ole Future floor wax.

I will go into more of the shades and color numbers on the black but for right now, the top was Vallejo black and German grey and the pants were Andrea and Vallejo Flesh.

Joe, Very nice job on the figure. Adter the trouble you had I'm sure you're glad it's behind you. I'm looking forward to more Sherlock postings in the future.~Gary

Awesome Joe! You made a rather dull figure look pretty interesting, its hard to paint such a dark figure and make a good job out of it. Keep it up and keep sharing with us :)

Gary and Anders,

Thanks. Gary, you have no idea how glad. I am now ready to tackle Sherlock. I have a question for you and the rest. I saw that Basil wore a scarf and I have him in a tie, do you think the scarf would look better?

Anders,
It is a little of a challenge to work on the dark colors and try to keep them interesting. I will try to post a few pictures of another all black figure, Wyatt Earp.

Joe

Thanks guys. Hopefully I can start work on painting something else. I am glad now to be able to sit back and look at this one. :) So Gary you suggest to just leave Sherlock as he is now. Thanks.

Joe

Joe, I looked at it again, and it didn't look too thick in the pictures. It was difficult to tell though. If you think it is, you could probably thin it down by scraping it with a round scalpel blade.
