I have to agree with Steve, he does look like he is in a hurry.
Look forwards to having a look Saturday Stu.
Carl.

Thanks for the positive comments.

Must admit to spending a long time on this sculpt and I know mark has sweat blood and tears painting it!!!!

Another cracker Stu, where do you get the time and the energy. Great painting (again) by Mark.

Carl, this is not the stunner I mentioned erlier, to be released at Euro, wait till you see this one.

Yes, the figure looks like carrying a heavy load!
With this pose I would have suggest to wear the helmet on the head and carry a ammo- box or two ammo-boxes bundled for the MG-42.

When I served in "Bundeswehr" (german army) as a "Panzergrenadier" we had to carry the MG-3 (same as MG-42) with ammo-boxes in the same "heavy" way.

This is a really naturally pose for such a weapon(y)

Great sculpting and a cracking paint-job, but I can't help but think he looks a little old to be a HitlerJUGEND just 16 - 18 years of age. To my eye he looks more like a grizzled veteran of many campaigns.

Still a very nice figure though.

Steve the 12th SS was formed around a back bone of soldiers taken from the LAH division and all the officers were from other divisions , even the army apparently.

I have a companion figure to go with this piece carrying ammo box's for the MG42 as they usually worked as a pair.

Hope to have him finished for release early 2012. Also thought all that SS camo would be toooo much for some.

Thanks for all the comments , glad you like it

Stuart

Hi,

great sculpt, but unfornunately not my scale, it´s 120mm right ?
But a great idea at all. I really like the pose and the fact that there´s a second figure in work which would interact with this one.

Cheers,
Mike.

Very nice. I think the paint job would go a long way to determining how old and grizzled he appears. Honestly when I looked at him I thought he looked young. I really like the Italian pattern camo suit. My only quibble with it is the hat looks a little too much like a baseball cap. I realize that the German field cap could probably end up looking a bit like a baseball cap with lots of use, and there are likely plenty of pics to support that. But to my eye, without the peak at the front , and having a bit of a bump in the center (like its pulled down tightly and form fitting his head), it looks a little off. Easy enough fix with a little Magic Sculp, if desired.
Cheers
Jason

Jason, I used the book Comouflage uniforms of the waffen SS by M beaver and J Borsallero as reference to sculpt the hat.

if you look at the photos previously posted you can see marked differences in its outline and I chose to sculpt it this way from photographic reference . Italian camo Has been faked widely also so this may not be an original.

Cheers

Stuart
