I was poking about in the back of the cabinet and pulled this one out, which I painted back in the day. Looking it over I thought it might stand a bit of re-touching, so I tidied up the various furry bits and also added a left eye (I had originally painted this guy with a "dead" eye, as there are some scars on the left side of the face). I also gave it some thin washes (something I hadn't done originally) which brought out the detail.
While handling it the right hand and axe came adrift so that got pinned and glued properly.

I'm not sure if this one is still available but it is an impressive piece. It has encouraged me to drag out some of the other cobweb encrusted efforts and maybe re-visit them too.

Thanks for looking!

Very nicely done and well worth the re-visit.(y)
A favourite figure of mine although I seemto remember a bit of work
fitting the legs to the torso. Great shield design.
Cheers

Hi Phil

Good to see this piece , classic sculpt IMO

Nicely painted all over and a interesting shield design

Always good to see your figures

Why not enter a piece into the class of your choice in the new FOTM as well

Thanks for sharing

Happy benchtime

Always worth a revisit, I have done that in the past year or so and sometimes a total repaint.
This has turned out really good Phil.

Thanks Derek. Yes, it needed some attention especially to get the shield to sit comfortably against his back, and you are right, the legs needed work too.

Nice one Phil. It's sometimes really good to do this - it's like having a free figure...(y)

Many thanks! I have started to look at some of the others now. One or two could stand a second go-over. Most are from late 90s/early 2000s when I could paint a bit:whistle:

Graham, Ken, Mobo, Kev and Bob - thank you for your kind comments. I think there will be others from the dark corners of my reserve cabinet that may get a make-over before too long:)

Shield design is loosely based on a Celtic pattern on a vase in the Ashmolean Museum, just down the road from me.
