Greetings all,

With the usual apologies for poor photos, I finally finished this guy. He's a 54mm E. Kazinsev figure done in acrylics with Gunze-Sangyo Mr. Metal for the armor. Please fire at will & don't spare the ammunition.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

awesome Mike You have done a super job with the skin tones and the yellow blending and shading (hard color to do). I love your armor as well and have a question for you. Last night while at a swap meet in Tulsa, I purchased, for the first time, some Gunze-Sangyo Mr. Metalizer. Even though I have painted for 3 decades, I need your help. How do you use this stuff? I know that there has been articles about its use, but you seem to have it down pat.......thanks Mike

Hey Mike!

Thats looking super!

I agree with Guy, the yellow is very well done! The armor is also very nice :) Which Mr. Metalizer color did you use? And whats your next project?

Thanks to everyone for all the kind comments . That'll be inspiration to work on some new stuff, like the 4 in the photo below: Andrea's crossbowman, a Shenandoah reb, a Russian grenadier, & a Warhammer goblin of some kind. I'm also nearly finished with an Imrie/Risley CW Union cavalry soldier. He should be finished in the next day or 3. I thought about combining the crossbowman & the Swiss fellow on the same base but the poses weren't really compatible.

To answer your question, Guy, I'm not sure if I used the Mr. Metal stainless steel color to it's best extent. This was my 1st time using it & every step was experimental, but this is what I did. Undercoated with Vallejo black & then brushed on the stainless. I used it right out of the bottle, no thinner or anything. I let it set for an hour or 2 & then buffed it with q-tips &/or a soft rag. That stuff is great. I had that armor shining like a new dime, but unfortunately, that wasn't the look I was trying for . I then gave it all a black wash, reapplied the Mr., used a little Vallejo oily steel in the nooks & crannies & buffed with a bit less enthusiasm on the high points & open areas. Like I said, Mr. Metal is some good stuff & I'm looking forward to using it in the future.

Mike

Thanks for the info Mike. I am going to be doing alot of armor on the 1/3 scale Warlord / Mongol and purchased the Mr last night. Of course, I can't read Japanese so had no clue as to how to properly use it.
