Thanks to the members that offered suggestions for my problem with finding uniform details for my project. Could not find what was required but many searches of many sites turned up photos of my fathers carrier and base in Canada which I am having blown up and professionally mounted and framed. Having only recently returned to the hobby after a long lay off I was surprised to see that Poste Militaire (one of my favourite manufacturers) had ceased trading. Does anyone know the reason for this and did anyone acquire the moulds. There are still a few of PMs figures that I would like to see in my collection.

From what I have heard, it was do to declining health that Ray ceased operations. Alot of the molds were sold to Elite Miniatures. Hopefully, many of these fine castings will remain available over the years to come.

Hi Guy/Graham

As I understand it, Elite miniatures have only bought up the 70mm figures from Poste Millitaire, unfortunately there hasn't been a suitable buyer for the 90mm figures, it would be so sad to see the finest figures in the figure world, go into obscurity, but you can still buy some of them from Historex Agents in Dover

Some guy in Florida bought a lot of the molds as well. He was attending Chicago as a trader and said the deal was being processed. Perhaps he will be in Atlanta with some more news for us PM fans.

I heard it was because Ray was asking a really unreasonable price for the moulds and masters. I know alot of us cut our teeth on PM but some of teh figures were by todays standrads a little stiff, though as been said the casting was second to none.

I think that Elite got the best of the deal wirth the 75mm lots. MY only hope is that elite bought the conquistador as I want one.

Anders,
Was that "John's Hobbies" from Florida? The very same one who bought a good amount of the Fort Duquesne moulds (the figures - and not the busts - that were worth a damn? ;) )? If so, then this guy is about to become a major manufacturer, to say the least ;) :)

Cheers!!!

Looks like I've started something here!!! I make no apologies for the fact that my main interest is in Napoleonics and I must admit that some of PMs early releases were a bit wooden (Curassiers etc.). However, at Euromilitaire a few years ago I set my heart on a mounted Red Lancer which was superb. Unfortunately, as Ray always had that balcony stand, by the time I reached it my pockets were empty!!! That was a figure that really leapt off the table and it is very sad that quality of this standard has been lost to the hobby, not least from the point of view that PM produced a very varied range of figures from all eras. Graham.

Pete, I can't remember the last bust I sculpted for Jim J, but I was the guy who sculpted most of the busts in the Fort Duquesne product line. I hope my bust sculpting has improved with my latest.~Gary
