Tamiya Acrylic Paint

I recently acquired some of the jars of Tamiya acrylic paint. I was wondering if any of the brains trust here knows if these can be thinned with regular tap water or do I actually need to shell out for the Tamiya thinner? Thanks.

If you are brush painting(which I dont recommend) then you can use regular tap water, if you are spraying, then either Gunze levelling thinner or Tamiya lacquer(yellow cap)...
