Hello all. My first new build on the site. I recently decided to revisit some of the old Tamiya favourites, and this is the final one of the batch. It's more-or-less OTB except that I swapped a Reedees head for the awful kit offering:

I painted the trousers a different colour to try and liven up a fairly bland scheme, and had intended a reed green instead of the warmer tint I ended up with - the nearest example I could find to it was the Italian tropical uniform, which could just be a possibility - I'm no purest, so can live with it.

No great shakes, but fun to do.

That's an excellent job, Peter. The contrast between trousers & jacket is a good idea, suggesting uniform items replaced from a different clothing store or supplier, & the way you've highlighted & defined the awards & decorations is outstanding - really makes them pop!

Mobo - Thank you.

Chris - Glad that you like him. I've made this figure many times before, but realised that though I have a version of the tanker in the cabinet, I didn't have the assault gun officer.

Hi Peter

This goes to show how tge painting can improve a figure so much , like Chris I like the way you did the awards

Replacing the head was a good move , looks good

Thanks for sharing this

Look forward to the next

Happy benchtime

Graham - Your painting is superb, a real inspiration. I have such a long way to go to improve that sometimes I find it almost too daunting.

Nap - Glad you like him. It's a nice sculpt and fun to pint.

I don't recognise this one, what scale is it? If it's 1/16 its beautiful. If it's 1/35 it's even better.

Andy - Quite cosy after all.

Steve - As Richard said, it's 1/16. The kit is presented as a German tank commander, and this is an earlier version in that guise:

And as Richard mentions, it lends itself to all sorts of adaptations - I once painted a version as a Panzer Lehr officer. I don't do smaller scales anymore; my eyes just aren't up to it. Glad you like him.

Richard - Thank you my man.

Thanks Richard and Peter for the heads-up on the figure. Those Tamiya 1/16 pieces are a bit of a mixed bag but some are really nice and paint up beautifully (I have the greatcoat-wearing German MG gunner in my cabinet). This is one of the better ones but for some reason it had passed me by until now. They are great value for money too.
