Well boys and girls, here is my version of the Michael-Roberts Knight Hospitaler (Templar in my case) bust. It is of course the bust sculpted by Anders. I picked this up at the Squadron open house not too long ago and decided to give it a go right out of the shoot. I decided I really wanted it for the Tulsa show, so I kinda got right on it! I made a couple modifications. As I have said before, I like to try and give each piece I do a bit of my own twist if I can. I removed the "hospitaler" crosses from the uniform, and painted back my own crosses. I also mounted the nose piece from the helmet as a hinged piece with it left in the "up" position so we could see this chaps face(I simply added a piece of Evergreen round stock to the base of the nose piece and scribed some lines to represent a hinge). I also added some "bolt" detail to the rim of the helmet for some interest. I also gave him some "wear" on the hood of his cloak to give a more weary look. I wanted a bit more contrast than the box art version so I went with a white tunic and the dark over coat. Both sporting new red crosses. A fun piece to do and it goes pretty fast. I had a bit of a time getting it painted down in all the nooks and crannies, but not a hard job at all! I also cut the original molded-on plinth from the piece and added my own peg. The plinth had a pretty decent mold off-set in it that I didn't want to fix. The bust itself was cast very cleanly however with only a small bit of clean-up. I would have to recommend this piece. A great starting point for many "templar-esque" conversions, or simply do it from the box! It's an inexpensive piece, and a quick piant once you get to it! Thanks for looking, any comments or critiques are always welcome!

Some very subtle touches there Jay that are very well done. This piece isn't quite as simple as it looks at first glance. You've rendered the colours well there mate ;)
