Re: Templar Veteran (200mm) W.I.P.

That's a difficult face to paint John.
Alot of rimpels to shade and highlight.
You are doing a great job on it, but as we say in our club it is not finished yet.

Well thank you Marc, i am certainly not there yet with the face. It needs more work. But it's fun.

Re: Templar Veteran (200mm) W.I.P.

It is worth rememebering that all Knights of the Temple had a sergeant whose job was to ensure that all his kit was spotless and rust free. Armour would have been burnished until it shone, and swords and daggers burnished and sharpened. This was especially true for senior members of the order.

Happy modelling,

Mike

Thanks for your comment Mike. The helmet will ben painted in matt leather colors with some chocolate brown and orange tones and of course metal. I will pay attention to the metal as you say.;)

Re: Templar Veteran (200mm) update 10 august

Looking good.
maybe toning down the hard edges in the face.
John, if i may: the white into the cape is to hard. I think you should go over it with a wash of the light brown color.

You are right Marc!
Made some changes to the overcoat and added a cross.

Re: Templar Veteran (200mm) update 10 august

The cape looks good now..
If you wanted the cross stand out, don't paint the red highlight with white, you get some pinky color as you see. Use yellow.
If you want a nice red: start with a darker shade of red, and build it up trough red and little yellow.
With oils i start with venetian red as shade and building the red up with cadmium red, and only the highest high with vermillion.
After complete dry i go again with the deeper shades using a dark brown (burnt sienna).

Thanks for your comments Marc. With your tips the bust will get better (I hope:lol:).
Anyway worked on the cross, his cape (little green added) and added the shield. I worked some more on his belt and the helmet to.

greetings John.

Terrific job John!

Working large scale seems to develop your technique very well. Maybe slightly less stark contrast in the face next time would look even better, but I really like your overall result here.(y)

Cheers,
Adrian

Well thank you all! This postive feedbakc means a lot to me, i will keep trying to improve my skills, in fact the next buste is out of the box already(y)

Greetings John.
