This is interesting food for thought and discussion given the upcoming centenary. Good briefing materials for cocktail party discussions too. I was aware if most of this but there are few surprises.

This link provides some very interesting documentation on the origins of plastic surgery to treat war wounds from the Great War. Fascinating and life changing work but WARNING very graphic photos.

Food for thought and some real surprises: Interesting to learn that the Versailles Treaty was not that harsh and was just portrayed by Hitler as such. - BTW Germany paid the last tiny rate of 56 Million Euros on 01.10.2010 - it took only 92 years and another war to fulfill the conditions of this Treaty ( German reparations 1918: 112 billion Goldmark - France 1871: 5 billion Goldfrancs - clearly harsher than Versailles:confused:) . - Whatever it`s over but I am not sure if the bbc is serious about debunking myths.
Cheers, Martin
