I read at this forum reviews of figures, and threads about the service of brands. Ok. Here comes one more. The mine.
Two or three years ago for my birthday my friends gave me a present. The ZZ Top figures of Kings of Figurines. The trick was that as i use to paint four or five miniatures for year, with the three of the kit i've got the year whole. After the initials jokes about my speed painting, opened the box. Good sculpt, good cast, some mold lines but nothing serious. But. Where are the battery plates? As they bought it to the brand by the web, we sent a e-mail in english. We were answered in frech, and the brand did not understand the problem. Ok. My english is bad, but enough to explain what happened. So, using my forgotten and horrendous french of the highschool, the mail went again. No answer. Well, i decided "don't worry be happy" and try to make it with putty. I'm a normal painter, but i hate putty and putty hates me. So, the result was ******, but they are ZZ Top, and some of their songs remember me special moments of my life. I wanted follow with the project

So i put all the band to calculate the measures for a base. And then, i was conscient of the mistake.

Gibbon's hat is a gift from an indian shaman few years ago. Always plays with it. And the band uses double bass at the drum kit since ¿fifteen years ago? So i searched the drumkits of the last ten years and what i found was that any coincidence between my kit and the reallity is a chance.
These are the drums

Five drums and a bongo. WTF? I need nine drums. And the bongo for what? To put the beers?
The sculptor is reproducing the form of the bass, guitar, hats, beards of the figures and invents a simple drumkit that maybe used for Frank Beard when he was learning to play?
The project was stopped since one month ago, after finish my last painting i take it again. The last fourty days when i had free time i spent it with putty and pins, the side of the hobby i hate.

I hope finish the drumkit montage next week, and begin with another miniature to paint and forget for a time before try to paint it. I'm saturated of ZZ Top.
So a tired and angry painter, say to Kings of Miniatures THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR ALL THESE HOURS OF RANTING TO ASSEMBLE A SCI-FI KIT GUYS. IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE.

Hi Metal,

I feel your frustration, but I can't help thinking about the gift horse..... ;-)

Just kidding.

Cheers,
Adrian

:) Ok Ferris. I've got a smile in my face with your lines. :p

I'm less angry than Sunday but i insist. The kit is well done and casted. The components of the band are clearly identificables. But can not forget the three fails of the brand
1-Missing pieces
2-Communication in english and answer in french, where did not understand what i write. Email in frech to explain, and no response.
3-Drumkit unreal. The fabricants repoduce with their figures every ribbon, insignia and stap. I never seen my kit painted, and maybe this reason why. Obviously if i want to buy a kit first use to confirm that what goes inside is real or can be adapted to my project. Here there is too much to change, and my putty skills are surpassed. My friends aren't ZZ Top fans and don't know nothing about the instruments they play.

To relax the thread
