Amazing story, even if disputed by some. It's hard to imagine what the world would look like today if he had taken that shot.
I'm pretty sure though there would be far far less german figure releases!

I follow the link and see nothing about that
Wasn't it a movie ? Eons ago ?

and also
42 ways to kill Hitler

Microsoft - 42 ways was a horrible low budget National Geographic doc on the the resistance or Widerstand that (a) was aimed to cash in on the film Valkyrie and (2) did not even list 42 attempts. Nothing to do with a film. It's a newspaper story and it takes a while to come up.

:D - possibly there would be still many German releases - just wearing spiked helmets.

.... and there would be possibly a story about one brave soldier who spared the Kaiser. We obviously need the demons and villains to look upon. - And of course the heroes.

I once came across an old book published in 1920. On the inside of the cover was an advertisement for another book titled "Catastrophe 1940". A German writer gave reasons why the Versailles Treaty "inevitably would lead to another war within twenty years". I would have liked to read a copy of that book because the writer got quite close with his prediction without taking at that time "Private Hitler" into his account.
- To make the world a better place and change the course of history maybe many good marksmen on all sides would be needed. ;)

Cheers, Martin

It would be very interesting to find that book Martin. If you ever come accross it, let me know.

I agree with you that the first and second world wars are strongly linked. Some historians actually group them as two phases of the same conflict. However, I do believe that Hitler's personal touch was unique and world-changing, in a very bad way. Even if the second world war itself was very likely, I would say it's a safe bet that it would have been a very different conflict without Hitler. And that today at least there would be no SS figures and all the discussion they cause... :)

Cheers,
Adrian
