15th. August 1769, the birthday of one Napoleone Buonaparte, in Ajaccio, Corsica.
Gentlemen, please be upstanding; raise your glasses, tankards,or whatever, and drink a toast,
"Vive l'Empereur" and confusion to his enemies.
Now, if that doesn't put the cat amongst the pigeons.............:singing:

An unreconstructed Bonapartist,
Alan

Ouis mon brave,

Loyal wishes on his Birthday from his excellency's
envoy to Sweden.

I feel it's only temporary, he must apolgise to me so
I can come home, there's murmering's in the streets here you know.

Lol, trust you..... If he had won, I would be able to speak French and go on painting holidays in Provence without feeling linguistically inadequate as well as artistically inadequate. All Wellingtons fault........... Because of him, I will never do the above :(

photo(38).jpg ... :whistle::whistle::whistle: Vive la Bony!

However this date (today) I was unaware of! ... Great stuff.

Mark.

I was in normandy last year mate and they do expect you just to speak loudly....about winning....so I did!

But when you profess any knowledge of Napoleonic France they love ya.

I asked which cavalry regiments where based here as alegacy of their breeding the best horses in the world.
And got a beaming, confused smile back, a look of wonder and in a tiny voice, ah les cuirassiers!
I didn't want to ask which of the 13 Regiments it was.
