I was recently asked by some friends of mine to repost a piece I did back in 2011 depicting a soldier of the beaten german 6th army at Stalingrad.
The bust is produced by Stormtroopers ( Stu Hale ) and is called Frozen.
I decided to depict my bust at the end of the battle of Stalingrad in 1943,i read about some of the injured germans being airlifted to safety by Junkers 52s from gumrack airfield,i wanted to depict this in my bust where cold and frozen he was waiting hopefully for his pickup.
I added some tears and dirt to the uniform as there was no way I could depict a piece like this just of the parade ground.
I also added a wound bandage to the face to give me the look I was planning for.
It was a really enjoyable piece to do,i cant believe its been 6 years ago I did it.

Brian, This is a true masterpiece. I will be working on a Chosin marine bust for our club's Korean War theme, and I intend to study your photos for help in depicting a cold, tired and determined marine "advancing to the rear".
