Hi guys.....just started this marathon project from Gordon Mitchell and brilliantly sculpted by Carl Reid....managed to have a couple of sessions on set no.2....still at the very early stages of blocking in the undercoated primed figures ready for the oils.... I've added extra straps and a spot of filler here and there....
All five figures are beautifully animated... I managed to have a couple of sessions on the headgear and faces to see if they are to my liking.....will adjust as I proceed...
Not sure at this stage if I will complete as a whole diorama or a couple of small vignettes....also made some progress on battle damage to door......will keep you posted...Mike

Looks very good so far. I will be following closely as I just received my sets on Thursday. They are indeed superbly cast and magnificently animated. Just out of curiosity, what straps did you did you add. I have not examined mine that closely yet to note if anything needs alteration or additions.

Great start, very interested in seeing how it will all come together...

Regards,
Phil

Hi and thanks for looking.....the straps I added were the water canteen straps..the officer requires a full strap from the canteen ,over the shoulder, back to the canteen...the guardsman has two smaller straps..one on his chest located under the buckle to the canteen...the other from the canteen to end under the backpack...hope that helps..Mike

Thanks for sharing Mike! Look forward to seeing it completed.(y)
This scene of the Coldstream Guards closing the gate on the French Light Infantry at la Hougomount caught my eye years ago. I was just getting acquainted with our miniature figure hobby back in the early 1980's. A modeler, uncertain who, did a 54mm diorama using Airfix and Historex and depicted the British closing the gate on the French. The article was featured in an out of print publication. Military Modeller. The scene and event still holds my interest each and every time!
