Hi all

As a scale modeller while stuck on lock down and instead of working through my stash like any normal person, I instead created something totally new for the scale hobby community. The Golden Sprue Awards.
Noms-Open-Dio.jpg

For the first time the hobby community can firstly nominate and then vote online for their choices of the Best New Kit releases of 2020 along with your favourite paint, weathering and aftermarket products. There are nine award categories including Best New Figure Kit 2020.

The event launched on Saturday and already nominations have come in for all categories for 50 countries around the world.

The principle of the event is firstly a celebration of our hobby but also a way for people to discover new brands and products as well as community sites and projects.

Nominations are open from now until the end of September and then during October you will have the chance to cast your vote for the shortlisted nominees across nine award categories. A final 10th award will go to the kit that receives the most votes overall in the event to become the Best New Kit 2020.

You can nominate once in each category.

There is no requirement to sign up or become a member to take part, it is totally free. When submitting a nomination you can optionally add your email address to enter a free draw. The email address is only required so that I can contact you if you win a prize.

The event supporters have donated prizes to be given away including airbrushes, kits, paint sets, weathering and after market products. There are also 30 Golden Sprue Stands to be given away that were generously made and donated by TopNotch for the event.

There is a build gallery that you can upload your own completed build pictures to, these are not part of a competition and are not there to be judged, so if you would like to show-case your work please go ahead.

Participation in the event is totally free and anonymous* with no personal data being passed to any third parties.

I hope you like what I have created and enjoy having your say to recognise those companies who have released great kits this year and those who continue to provide us with great paint, weathering and aftermarket products in our wonderful hobby.

Hi Nap

Thank you for the warm welcome and I will be more than happy to keep you all up to date as the event progresses.

Having been working on this since March it launched on Saturday and in the first few days the response has been brilliant. So far nominations have been received from scale modellers across 50 countries.

In creating the categories for this first year I attempted to make sure there was a category for each subject matter and I am keen to see more nominations in the Best New Figure Kit ;)

With the support of the community this year the intention will be to take feedback before beginning work on next years event with possibly more / different categories.

One of my objectives is for people to discover new products and brands through this event, in setting it up, I certainly have.

So by nominating perhaps your favourite figure kit manufacturer they could gain from the exposure and I'm keen to see those niche specialist brands given an opportunity along side the big guns that maybe they don't always get.

I will be more than glad to answer any questions regarding the event.

Hi Kevin

Sorry it took a minute to get back, has been one of those days.

Happy to say that for this years event three Figure Kit Manufacturers generously donated some prizes and they are
  • Elan13
  • RPModels
  • Scientific Models
At the moment I am creating the weekly draws with what I have on hand and a future draw weekend will feature more Figures.

Nominations are open until the 25th Sept after which the final voting will be available from 3rd of October and I know each of the companies above will be delighted to receive your support as will any other other manufacturer you choose to nominate or vote for.
