Hi.
At the bench with a Black Sun figure and an idea trying to express with him.
Sometimes i think all people have a warrior who allows us go to fantasy worlds but cares to not allow be too much time in it, or sometimes says "the trip is forsaken". A big and brave warrior keeping the gate to the other side, protecting ourselves from madness. But why the dark side sometimes catch the human beings and make us fools? Maybe our gatekeeper is defeated?

So, the first part of my project is try to do something like a fantasy to other reality, and the most similar for me, is the infinity of the comos, so big and beautiful.
Knowing my lack of skills drawing, i decided try with airbrush, and being the first time doing something different to lights and shadows, is absurd pinting the figure and cann't finish the ground, so, lets go with my gate.

First, a thick piece of "pen paper" maybe the word in english? with pins and primer

Lets try something like a beutiful cosmos

I'm happy with it. Better than i thought

Now the base and modelling something from the dark side. As H.P. Lovecraft fan, some tentacles for the chance

The gate plus the dark side menace

The idea with the miniature can be possible

I've got a brave figther defending the sanity of my mind without knowing of an inminent attack from the dark dream realm, wich will make me crazy if he loose this combat.

A great idea and so far a beautiful execution. Will follow this one.

Oda.

Hi there

Good to see you working on a project and certainly a interesting one , nice to hear your thinking behind the idea

Background looks good and those tentacles do look menacing

Why not enter a piece into FOTM as well as voting in previous month

Thanks for sharing , following with interest

Happy benchtime

A bit of time to thanks for the comments.
The barbarian is a beauty, but some works were done in him before the painting to adjust and mold lines. I have been fighting with his flesh, and hope bring some pictures tonight or tomorrow.
Cheers

Some advances.
Black marble for the floor, and a big piece of it for the frame of the dimensional door. Its important for me the feeling that the door is very big, so the top of the frame is not visualized.
Tentacles are glued (less one, must be glued when the guardian will be finished) and painted. A lot of colours, very soft but chaotic an abnormal. Something out of logic. To blend it without troubles, used oil paint. sorry but i can't take the colour of the tentacles with photos

The other side, the dimension of my octopus must be something with bad vibes and desolate. Sad and dark colours. Something like a grey-blue, no associate with my dimension. No slabs, no frames, no human civilization. For the dimensional door i thought first of all a black cosmos, but when i think in the distant space is a black piece of nothing with some points of light... and is not disturbing or strange, so not valid. Is more chaotic for me an ethereal comic spiral with ugly dead colours. So, paint to the airbrush, and again, try to do something like this.

I think it has got the atmophere i was looking for. It has something chaotic and the ambient is sad, loneliness, restlessness is what i feel. Perhaps i'll touch a little some things, but till the moment i'm happy, and my idea works and and is in progress. The contrast between both dimensions is evident and the cosmos as a portal is clear for me.

To inspirate the "dark side" a sak track
