The "Grail" list....

OK guys, here's one I haven’t done before. I have a list of kits that I constantly update of things I’m looking for. Some I know what, where, and when etc., some I don’t. I thought I might bounce this off the brilliant minds of the Planet for some info. This is my “holy grail” list of sorts. It is pieces I would love to get a hold of but they’re either out of production or I simply don’t know who the manufacturer is. I understand some may be “one-offs”, but most were offered as commercial pieces and I either forget the manufacturer or simply don’t know it. Can anyone help a bust-man out? If you have any info on any of these let me know so I can update my records. Better yet, if you have one laying around your “gray-army” and you think you’ll never get around to it, maybe we can work out a deal! Thanks in advance for anyone’s help..............or offers! ;):D

A. Spartan Miniatures Russian POW Stalingrad
B. Warriors Stalin (Kent Kidwell sculpt)
C. Bonaparte’s Crusader???? (Need correct info, hell I just need one! OK, want, but it is a nice piece!) - Update: this is Item #BB17 Bonaparte’s Crusader, Thanks Norb!!!!
D. ???? Was this a piece offered by Figurines magazine or something as a subscription bonus?
E. Bonaparte’s Greek/Spartan???? (Need correct info)
F. Rommel (I can’t for the life of me remember who did this one. Not very old and I think it’s maybe an Asia/Korean company that did these?) Diorama Studios Rommel (Thanks Richard!)
G. Enigma Models Braveheart (Jim Maddox sculpt)
H. Do I really need to say it?!!!! Poste Militaire Blood Warrior (tell me someone’s willing to part with one!)
I. De Tara collection - Hawk??? This is from an SBS here on the Planet that kinda disappeared. Would love to get my mits on one!
J. Bonaparte’s Knight? Anyone know the correct make and model on this one for sure? Another beauty!
K. What a piece of work this is! I saved this from a show listing some time ago and just want to know if anyone knows about it. Is it a commercial piece? If so anyone know who made it? One of my all time faves!
L. Bonaparte’s 24th of Foot Zulu wars
M. Nice little cowboy, would like to know if anyone has some info on this little buckaroo! Update: This is a PiliPili piece used as an AMSS giveaway. Thanks Marc and Joe!
N. Again, saved from a show posting, is it a one-off? Is it commercially available? Nice piece!
O. Not to be confused with the Andrea piece, I’m looking for the Warriors Polish Lancer bust.
P. I just love this one. Again, pic is from a show listing. Is this Robinson Caruso and Friday? A one-off, or a commercial piece? Just a REALLY fun piece!
Q. PiliPili Pieter Paul Rubens. I think this was a premium given away at a European show. Limited quantities etc. Would like to know if someone thinks they won’t paint theirs and would be willing to part with it!

Jay,
Number M is a head that was sculpted and cast by Pillipilli and offered to our AMSS club for a competition painting.
Number Q was indeed A sculpt and casting by Pillipilli and is indeed Pieter Paul Rubens. It was given with the 10 year anniversary off our AMSS club (2004) to the (if i remember correct) competitors and there where no more then 100. My bust is number 80.
Jay, i painted mine not so well. Iff you really want him, i can send it to you, stripp him and paint the bust with your skills. Off course there is with the bust the signed cart with the bust number.

Hi Jay
It’s getting peeps to part with these if they have them, some are pretty rare, I have some of these and know I would regret selling them, I saw the PM Blood warrior on EBay a while ago sell for $140, the Bonaparte busts I have are some of the best casing I have seen and very difficult to find, the crusader has a porcelain finish to it, Dave Freeman told me that all the moulds were damaged by condensation, it is pretty unlikely that they will ever appear again on the market. Good luck with your searching.
Cheers
Tommi

From what I can make out the moulds were left outside in some bags and got damp and mouldy to the point of being unusable, I did hear that he was thinking of re-moulding some of the range from some painted busts that he has in his display cabinet, if this will ever happen I have no idea, would be nice though as he produced some great stuff.

Just having a dig around in the loft I found some stuff I had forgotten about including one of the figures that Jay is looking for and a large box full of Poste Militaire figures that I have been looking for. I found another older Bonaparte bust of another knight, the quality of these is outstanding, thought I would take a few pics so you can see how well these things were cast even being 15years + old. I will have to dig around some more in the loft to see what I can find. Maybe I will get round to painting them one day:rolleyes:

Hey Jay

Rommel is a 200mm by Diorama Studio out of China. Chuck at RL had some not too long ago and maybe Squadron still does.

Ahhhhhhh....Richard, you're right! Thanks a bunch, I'll have to give Chuck a shout.

Tommi, you're pictures speak a thousand words my friend! The quality of these pieces is exactly why I'm still looking for these bad boys! A real shame we have lost them to the crusty old molds of time............thanks for sharing, wanna get rid of either of those? (Hey, you don't get what you don't ask for, right? :))

Holy Grail

Hi Tommi ,
You are right Bonapartes did some cracking stuff ..I have space for any busts you might like to send on a journey ...well I can but hope !!!!!!!
Dave Freeman is a great painter so I am not sure recasting from painted versions ..although I am sure it would be commercially viable .
