208 years ago today, 21st October 1805, 27 ships under the command of Vice Admiral Lord Nelson met the combined Fraco-Spanish fleet of 33 ships under the command of Vice Admiral Villeneuve off Cape Trafalgar.
Twenty-two French and Spanish ships were lost, but not a single Royal Navy ship struck her colours. At the moment of victory, Nelson breathed his last.
