Had this cracking bust as a Xmas from Mrs Helm after she took advice from a "friend" (Cheers Carl you *&%! :D ) Now this was one I really really liked but knew painting it was out of my league after all...

However it was a great gift and while she said ask Steve of http://www.skminiatures.co.uk/ to exchange it, which I know he would being a real gent it seemed a little churlish to do so. So I pondered it and decided that this might be the way to go with it, a bust from a bust :wideyed:

I first primered it with a spray can of Humbrol Gold then applied layers of a dark brown/bronze metallic acrylic mix well thinned down to ink like consistency. There now remains a very dark brown wash for shadows and dry brushing with gold on the highlights.
As ever interested in your comments on what to me is a new method and style
Steve

Cheers Paul I think you may have the child friendly translator there ;) Nah this is one bust I'll leave well alone, unless it's perfect the subject is just too well known for it stand up. Glad you like it though mate

Just being naughty really steve,

I just realised an hour ago that I HAVE to go to work tomorrow.
Bearing in mind, I've spent the last two days without visitors,
I am surrounded by 54mm Airfix collectors series parts, and I've been 'multiposing my bits'.
Now I've got to put my toys away, iron my shoes and polish my shirt and tie for work.

I've got a right sulk going on.

Well that's a surprise Steve,
I didn't even see you for the interview,
if I'm in first tomorrow, I'l put the brew on !

Still Nato standard are you ?

You got that done quick mate :) nice result, from pictures looks just like a bronze statue, gold primer sounds good idea, never thought of that (y)

Amen brother!!

Hey mate. I like the effect. I want this one myself. I got the Lord of lion bust for Christmas and have been blown away by the detail, its staggering!

I know, strangely I was feeling confident until it arrived. Much haste was made at getting into the box then that was replaced with that sinking feeling peppered with "oh-oh, what have I done"?!?!
