The second annual Lone Star Figure Show will be held at the Renaissance Hotel, Dallas, Tx. March 14th-16th, 2013.

The first show was a huge success, and we hope to build on last year’s show to create an even better show this year.

Following the same format of the first show, we are once again offering workshops to encourage growth and camaraderie within our hobby. Last year’s workshops were a smashing hit; everyone enjoyed themselves and learned a few new tricks in the process.

We have the great fortune of once again having Mr. Julio Cabos attending the show and hosting another 2 day workshop where he shares his tried and tested figure painting techniques. Not only is Julio a great guy, but he is also an excellent teacher.

The second workshop is a one day event, led by Mr. John Long, who is very well known for his superb groundwork. John will be sharing his techniques on various forms of groundwork where each participant will create his or her very own base. We tend to put a lot of effort into each figure that we sculpt/paint, so much so that sometimes we forget about the groundwork. This is a great opportunity to learn from one of the groundwork masters of our hobby today.

And a new event for the 2013 Lone Star Figure Show is a small, intimate painting class with none other then Mr. Doug Cohen. Doug will offer a very limited capacity painting class on Friday the 15th of March. The class will be a one day event with a maximum number of 6 participants where each participant will receive a lot of one on one instruction while painting a 75mm face. The key to the workshop is a very focused effort on how to paint a face in miniature.

Chris Mrosko is our seminar speaker, bringing his vast knowledge to present a class "Airbrushing 101" with Chris Mrosko.

We will also be selling Lone Star T-shirts and hats.

To sign up for a class and/or book your room for the show, please go to the website at:

I have just returned from the Julio Cabos workshop and the show and I can't say how great the event was. Julio's workshop was fantastic. We spent 16 full hours painting almost non-stop and he was a great teacher. Not just a consummate artist, but a great instructor and a genuinely nice person. He was is full of energy and his love of painting comes through all of the time.

We were also the recipients of real Southern hospitality and it was a fun time. What a marvelous group of guys they are. My thanks to all who organized the event and especially to Gilbert who translated for us for 2 days. My only regret is that I couldn't also attend the other workshops as well. But there is always next year!

I can't recommend this highly enough. I'm sure that if you can make the time to get to Dallas next year you WILL have a fun time, and hopefully I'll see you there.
My heartfelt thanks to all of you.
Best regards,
Gerry

We had a great time at Lone Star! The collective experience of those putting it together really shined. Great work on the tables and great company. Extraordinary learning experiences to be had in the workshop with Mr. Cabos and Panzer Mrosko's seminar. Excellent venue. Well done Texans!

I attended the groundwork workshop (something I really needed help with), given by John Long. I left there with the confidence that I can now compose and fabricate a complimentary scene for my figures. Overall the show was a class act and my compliments to the organizers and those doing the grunt work that kept the event moving smoothly. Now to stash away some money for next year ;)!

Does anyone have any info on the LSFS for 2014? The LSFS site (first post above) has not been updated to reflect the 2013 medalists or show photos. There is no mention of the 2014 show and Anders is not answering his email.
