Kit # 54022
First of all, yes, this is the second review and was done with the FULL cooperation between myself and Guy Herrick. After finding out I purchased this kit recently, Guy wanted the review re-done and asked me to do it as his schedule is COMPLETELY loaded with other projects. I said" Too easy!". I will use some of his original pictures as well as refering you to the previous review. There were some interesting things brought up by Gary which need to be re iterated. Ok, on with the show...
The kit still comes with 13 parts cast in resin in Mike Stelzel's normal high quality. Mike's figures rarely, if ever, come with airbubbles or serious mold shifts. While this is to be expected (to some degree) as long as the modeler can reasonbly fix anything then there really isn't a problem. This kit is certianly no exception. I thought I found most of the TINY airbubbles but alas, you'll see in my pictures that I discovered a few that I missed. No worries...it's an easy fix. One of the things that I noticed right away (especially for those of us who don't have an extensive library on the F&IW) was that Mike is taking a lot of the guess work out of it by listing several different color combinations right on the instruction sheet (again, normal for Michael Roberts Ltd. products). Of course, I will get some books as this is what makes this hobby fun for me. I get to learn a little more about history! Here are Guy's pictures:
The first figure (starting from the bottom and working my way up) comes with two optional heads.
This is the figure sliding down the embankment. Note: as to the cartridge box, Mike states in his instructions "To depict a Frenchman, remove the insignia on the cartridge box of the seated figure" Not, I know this isn't a "know all, do all answer to Gary's post on Guy's previous review, but it does help. If you still want to include a 2 or 3 on the cartridge box, I guess you could simply paint it there or, shave it all off and paint the entire insignia there. Your Choice! Here is the figure sliding down the embankment:
And here are the two heads mounted on the same figure:
