I guess all of us have figurekits that we will probably never do. Not cause lack of time but we doesnt "feel" for the figure any more.

These figures could be prizes in contests, gifts from friends and family, purchase from a postorder company where one hasnt seen the kit, one can have been caught in a buying frenzy at a shop or a show or perhaps a better figure of the same subject was released.

However I think it should be funny to hear if you figureteers have figures that fit to the description above.

The Andrea figure below was won at a show and just cant find any reason to do it. I will trade it if any of you are interested or have a figure that you cant cope with or perhaps someone will give me an idea for a suitable conversion. Perhaps a bucket helmet cause I do like how the wind has caught the cape.

And here it is:

Ooooooooh, I've got one in mind - Worster Miniatures' 120mm 101st. Airborne trooper jumping out of a C-47. Although I've already built one, I have another one here that was going to be used for a vignette. I was planning on adding another trooper already out of the C-47 suspended by the static line; make a jumpmaster that would be more visible in the door; add some battle damage to the fuselage so that another trooper could be slightly visible through the holes.

This sounds like it would be a fun project, right? Wrong! The kit was a major pain in the keester to assemble, clean up, and correct. For instance, the rivets on the original kit were way out of scale (think of baseball-sized rivets). So I had to sand them all off and replace them with brass nails commonly used in wood model shipbuilding. I drilled holes where I wanted the nails to go in, stuck them in, glued them in place from the interior, and then cut off all the nails leaving the heads exposed on the exterior - voila, new rivets ...... over 200 of them.

Then came the figure. I won't even go there. Suffice it to say, by the time I finished cleaning it up, it was almost completely covered with putty. I also had to replace most of the gear.

In all fairness, I will say that the molds for this kit were purchased by another manufacturer who had new molds made. it's my understanding that the "new & improved" versions of this kit are light years ahead of the original alleviating many - if not all - of the headaches I went through. Thus, this would be a really fun kit for anybody thinking of making a shadow box would enjoy - Patrick? Antlion?

Too bad the unassembled kit I have here is one of the "original" versions ...
