Tremendous stuff Steve! You've really captured the atmosphere of intensity and peril there. I like it a lot.

Well posed and sculpted with a good range of headgear - only the Wolseley helmet is missing!

Mike

Good call Mike, I'll be adding one to ground on my version for sure.
Surprised by number of these worn by troops at Gallipoli.

Stay safe,
Mike

Although the slouch hat has now become the recognised headgear of Aussie and Kiwi service personnel as well as Ghurkas, it was widely worn in both World Wars by British and Imperial troops. The Wolseley helmet was also widely worn throughout the Middle East by ANZACs as well as Poms. It is also forgotten that many of the former also wore service caps, as seen in photos of the time.

I slogged up Chunuk Bair a couple of weeks ago to commemorate the centennial of this campaign and can vouch for the climb. Let alone how challenging this would have been with fire & without advantage of high ground.
My time there also gave me a better appreciation for the shambles this whole campaign was & the senseless waste of life for all involved.

This vignette has been a labour of love for Steve & he has done a wonderful job capturing the feel for this lone, small victory ANZACs had over a couple of days on the peninsula.

Would also be good to also see some of the Ottoman troops in miniature too.
Their sacrifice in defence of their land deserves to be acknowledged.

I look forward to seeing this one in the flesh, before bringing it to life,
unlikely to happen in next couple of months though due to work commitments.
Anyone up to try & get theirs done by 7-9 Aug - 100year anniversary of the actual battle?

Thanks Steve for creating this mini memorial to our forefathers in one of their toughest times.
I do hope it get the support your effort deserves.

Stay safe,

Mike
